However, as fulfilling as my corporate career was, I felt a pull towards something greater. The nine-to-five grind, despite its stability, felt like a constraint to my creativity and passion. In 2019, after much introspection and countless late-night discussions with myself, I made the brave decision to leave my job and invest everything I had into my dreams.
Quitting my job was not a hasty decision; it was one that required deep reflection and a recognition of my commitment level. In preparation for this new chapter, I took a significant step by purchasing a home just a month before my resignation. This was more than a strategic financial move or a carelessly conservative choice; it was a symbolic gesture of total commitment—similar to how a pig gives itself fully when offering us bacon. This act signified that I was all in, no turning back, ready to embrace whatever challenges lay ahead.
Establishing my eighth business was daunting, especially after the previous seven ventures had faced their share of struggles and failures. Each failure taught me something different, whether it was about market trends, financial management, or even about myself. I learned that resilience isn’t merely bouncing back; it’s about understanding your failures and using them as stepping stones rather than as barriers.
Almost four years have passed since that pivotal moment, and today I am grateful to lead an incredible team of seven at Monosi Movements. Our flagship store located in Newtown Junction Mall, Johannesburg, stands as a testament to our collective hard work and creativity. Together, we have developed a line of sneakers that is not only stylish but also comfortable—truly a reflection of local craftsmanship and passion.
