About the Role
As an HR Practitioner at RCL Foods, your primary goal will be to provide effective human resources support to our business unit. You will be the go-to person for all HR-related matters, ensuring that our practices, procedures, and services align with both company policies and the needs of our employees. This role requires a proactive and empathetic individual who can navigate the complexities of employee relations, talent management, and organizational design.
What You’ll Need
- Education: A National Diploma or Degree in Human Resource Management is essential.
- Driver’s License: A valid Code EB driver’s license is required, as you will need to visit various sites.
- Transportation: Having your own vehicle is necessary for site visits.
- Experience: We’re looking for candidates with 3-5 years of experience as an HR generalist. Your background in HR will help you navigate the challenges of the role effectively.
Key Responsibilities
As an HR Practitioner, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks that are crucial to the smooth functioning of our HR department.
Employee Relations:
You will play a vital role in advising line managers on conduct and misconduct management processes. This includes investigating disciplinary cases and grievances, ensuring that our practices comply with statutory requirements. You’ll also coach line managers on conducting effective disciplinary hearings and represent the organization at CCMA (Conciliation and Arbitration) and Bargaining Council.
Resourcing:
You will process recruitment permissions, negotiate offers of employment, and ensure that jobs are advertised in a timely manner. Your responsibilities will also include conducting interviews, managing orientation for new employees, and overseeing probationary reviews.
Talent Management:
You’ll coach line managers on performance management and talent review processes. Facilitating performance appraisal meetings and driving succession planning for the site will be part of your duties. You’ll also monitor employment equity targets and ensure that our workplace reflects diversity.
Health and Safety Compliance:
In this role, you will manage the process for IOD (Injury on Duty) and minor injury treatment, assisting the Risk Officer in monitoring these cases. Your commitment to health and safety will be essential in maintaining a safe working environment.
Organizational Design:
Collaboration with line managers is key as you work to propose new positions and update the organizational structure. Driving change management initiatives that align with business goals will also be part of your responsibilities.
Training and Development:
You’ll compile training matrices and facilitate HR training sessions for employees and line managers. Ensuring that development plans are in place for all employees in C Band positions will be a priority.
HR Administration:
Managing the onboarding process for new employees, conducting exit interviews, and maintaining HR information systems will be your tasks. You’ll provide guidance on HR policies and ensure that all employees understand their rights and responsibilities within the organization.
